Spencer Hale
My name is Spencer Hale. I reside in Winston-Salem, NC, USA. I was raised by a black, single mother, on a teacher’s salary, with three other siblings. One would assume that I had all the markings of becoming a statistic. Thankfully, poor schooling, drugs, and gangs were not in my future. Fortunately, I was able to avoid the pitfalls that plagued African American males due to the people in my life. Over the course of my 30 years on this earth, there have been several people who have poured their lives into me and shaped me into the person I am today. Experience has led me to understand that not everyone is blessed to have a village step up to help raise them. There are those out there who don't have the support system that I had. This has led to my participation in the creation of Diplomatic Solution for Girls.
While my training is different from my colleagues, I have been an active participant in trying to close the poverty gap in Winston-Salem, NC. I have been a member of Bridges Church for the past 15 years. Through my connection with Bridges, I have worked on several initiatives that attempt to tackle the issues of poverty, hunger, and homelessness. I worked for the Clothes Closet, helping to distribute clothes to those who couldn’t afford them. I've packed bag lunches for school children so that they had food for the weekend through the Backpack Program. I also served as a youth leader at Vacation Bible School, providing both lessons and fun to children 4 to 12 years of age.
In conclusion, I am excited to begin this next chapter in my life. I look forward to working with like-minded people who have a passion for helping others. I truly believe we can make a difference in this world.

Personal Statement
From a young age, I have been deeply moved by the challenges faced by girls around the world. Growing up in an environment that values education and equality, I have come to realize that not all girls have the same opportunities. This awareness has ignited a passion within me to advocate for the rights and empowerment of girls through diplomatic solutions.
My journey began with a keen interest in global affairs and human rights. As I delved deeper into the subject, I was struck by the challenges related to access to education, healthcare, and protection that many girls encounter.
My personal values of equality, justice, and empathy drive my commitment to this cause. I believe that every girl, regardless of her background, deserves the chance to thrive and contribute to her community and the world. This conviction has led me to seek out opportunities to learn and engage with these issues on a deeper level.
Throughout my education and professional experiences, I have honed my communication and negotiation skills, understanding that effective advocacy requires not just passion, but also the ability to listen, understand, and find common ground. I have participated in various volunteer activities and internships with organizations dedicated to girls' rights, where I have witnessed firsthand the power of collaborative efforts. As a global youth ambassador for Their world, I am continuing to advocate for early childhood development, which involves the girl child.
Cultural sensitivity is a cornerstone of my approach. I recognize that solutions must be tailored to fit the cultural contexts of the communities they aim to serve. This understanding has guided me in my efforts to develop and support initiatives that are both respectful and effective.
Looking forward, I am eager to continue my advocacy through both grassroots efforts and high-level diplomatic engagement. I am committed to building networks with like-minded individuals and organizations to amplify our collective impact. I believe that by working together, we can create sustainable changes that will unlock opportunities for girls and empower them to reach their full potential.
In conclusion, I am looking forward to work with my fellow colleagues to serve the girl child. I am dedicated to advancing diplomatic solutions that address the unique challenges they face, and I am determined to be a part of the global movement that strives for a world where every girl can dream, achieve and lead.
